Seriously : ‘ Lewiston is just across the Snake River from Clarkston. Geddit? Lewiston and Clarkston.’

Wow beautiful!

Well the French, la pelouse, une pelouse (as opposed to palouse) translated to English

would be - the lawn, a lawn. A short tight grassy area.

I'd go with the likely longer standing name of one of the tribes, Sahaptin-speaking groups (Palus band) living on the river.

Got to love Wikipedia contributors

Great you had a milder covid infection seems it is getting that way now.

Hopefully you won't have those difficulties with chargers everywhere. Having to rent a gas vehicle sort of defeats the whole idea.

Happy travels!

Despite my joke about abdication, I don’t think renting a gas vehicle defeats the whole idea. In the end, it isn’t up to me to ensure there’s a well-distributed, functioning charger network. What I am doing in this trip is testing the limits of the existing infrastructure and it’s obvious that an enormous amount of work needs doing both on the distribution of chargers and their robustness if we are truly going to make the massive change governments are contemplating, much less meet existing demand.

Your standing in the green community remains intact. Altimas with CVTs are quite fuel efficient.

Glad you've recovered completely!

The slow and inefficient rollout of charging stations is happening everywhere, it seems.

Here's to the crazy ones.

Bummer about the US chargers….but good you’re now testing negative and can again visit friends. Safe travels, Paul.

Big history around the Nez Perce Nation and their resistance to being forced off their traditional land. Hard not to see why.

That’s interesting. Palouse claims to be America’s No. 1 wheat-growing county, which seems like quite a claim if you have ever been through North Dakota or Iowa. Absolutely prime farming land.

Then we look forward to seeing you again! Safe travels. Sad charging tale. Western Washington & Eastern Washington are so different aren’t they? There was talk about the east being more like Idaho.

So glad you are better! Really sorry we couldn’t hang out.

Palouse sounds like grass in French and the tribe Pierced Nose?? Didn’t know there were any French incursions there. Jacques will be curious.

And I also regret our visit was so short. One of the wonderful things about this trip is reactivating and deepening old relationships and our visit was one I was particularly looking forward to. Luckily Vancouver is a place I visit often, unlike some of the other places I’ve been through.

Yes, apparently some groups (the Chinooks) pierced their noses and the French gave the name indiscriminately to all the tribes in he region. And yes, one theory about the name Palouse is that it is a corruption of the French “pelouse”, but it is only a theory and there are other ones.

WA, ID, WY, and MT are all amazingly beautiful.

As for the chargers, I'm guessing if you stick to the Interstates there's better "service"? Which if that's the case is problematic, because if one truly wants to see the beauty of America, it's best done off the Interstates in my experience.
