Thank you for this post. It’s good to get a local view of what the EV market in China feels like. It’s interesting that another company is trying battery swapping there. It’s not been successful over the years elsewhere. I remember seeing a shuttered “Better Place” battery station at Schiphol airport in the Netherlands in the 90’s after it went bankrupt. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battery_swapping?wprov=sfti1
I visited just 4 cities. If you went by what I saw through my peephole into what is obviously a vast and complex country, I think you’d say it is must more modern and advanced than back home. Much more dynamic, way more rapidly changing. That having been said, the grumbling about the handling of COVID, not just the lockdown but the sudden opening up, when virtually everyone gone the disease, followed by economic stagnation, is obvious. Many middle class people seem to want a way out for themselves or their children (and their money). But again, this is from my very limited perspective.

I much enjoyed this posting. Well written and informative. Is it your opinion that China is technologically advanced in comparison to North America?

Thanks.
Great article, Paul. Especially the train. Via China? Safe travels.
Fascinating!
Thanks! One more post coming from China.
