Driving distances here in Australia are similar - and just as challenging. I am looking forward to your posts and this one sets the mood perfectly. Safe travels!
I did Ottawa to Saskatoon in my 2018 Bolt EV in September. It's very doable, but definitely requires planning after the Sault. Petro-Canada + Ivy FTW :)
Cool. My plan is to charge almost whenever I can….at minimum every 200 k. What app(s) did you find most useful. PlugShare seems most comprehensive but it’s not always the easiest to use.
I just used the Petro-Canada/Ivy/Flo apps. Plugshare is great in terms of comprehensiveness, but there are so few DC fast charging options for basically the whole route that it wasn't necessary. Once you hit the prairies Co-op has some fast charging as well. I took a similar approach in terms of frequent charging because stations are so spread out, I didn't want to get in trouble if one was down, but at least for the Bolt, the issue is that the more full the battery, the slower the charging goes. If the Leaf is similar, just be prepared that it'll be slower than the advertised rate so to speak. Like you won't get 50kw if your battery is still 2/3 full, that sort of thing.
I love long road trips and am look forward to your updates as well as your adventures in an EV. Often wondered how that would work! Have fun, Paul and enjoy the time and space that this journey will provide!
Looking forward to sharing your experience. The Trans Canada through NW Ontario is very good now. Generally a nice highway with many psssing lanes. Good luck on the charging stations.
Sounds great! Looking forward to your posts Paul. Safe travels! (But please don’t drink the bad coffee!) And Katya wants to know when you get to Winnipeg!

It sounds like a fabulous trip. I am looking forward to your comments and photos along the way. Safe travels. Hope to see you on the west coast.
