Should my Leafs overcome another round first game loss and go on to win the Cup, I suspect there will be a full quota of bandwagon fans. However, because I am indeed a very long time ardent Leafs fan, I am more inclined to expect failure sooner rather than later.
Iām glad you have reconciled yourself to cheering on a Canadian team. I would be happy to cheer on Montreal, Ottawa, Calgary or Vancouver. But the Leafs or Oilers? Still not there yet! Maybe I should just watch the NBA playoffs!
The Cup coming home to Canada would be great. But I don't think there's anything more Canadian than hating the Leafs! š So as a life long Jets fan who suffered through the Gretzky years, go Oilers!

I have to agree, Canada needs a Stanley Cup. Growing up in Hamilton as a Leaf's fan, I was shocked at the level of vitriol I found here in Ottawa directed at the Leafs. These are the same people who go hoarse cheering for the Blue Jays so it can't really be explained simply by a hatred of the Big Smoke. Do you really prefer the Stanley Cup to be won by the Las Vegas Racketeers or the Florida Gun Nuts?
I empathize on your team being knocked out. It was hard to see my Bruins get pummelled after their regular season run. At least Vegas has four Manitobans on the team (small, or no, consolation I know).
I'm not a fan of either but would be very happy if the Stanley Cup came back to Canada.
As an oldie I miss the original 6 when every team was a contender. Granted there was much less player development back then but every game was excellent.

Same same! Itās tough but grandson in Edmonton sent me an Oilers hat when I lost a Jets-Oilers bet. Hate Leafs, so Go Oilers!
