Thank you Paul. I loved two of Roy Jacobsen's novels thanks to one of your previous lists. See I have some catching up to do. I have an unfortunately high pile (4 actually) of to-read books and must get myself a kindle or neighbours will start mistaking me for a hoarder.
Lovely surprise to see my university friend Lawrence Osborne on the list. Back in the day, we were badly behaved at Fitzwilliam College, Cambridge. His novel Ballad of a Small Player is being made into a Netflix movie starring Colin Farrell and directed by Edward Berger (All Quiet on the Western Front).

Thank you Paul! I appreciate your thoughtful comments. I’ve added the non-fiction ones to my reading list.
Thanks for your picks, Paul. Such helpful blurbs. I just ordered the one written by the only woman on the list! 😃
I haven’t read any of them, though, so I will probably go for a few more for myself and gifts.

Ballad of a Small Player was the first of his books I read and I think it may have made my list a few years ago. I had no idea of your connection!
And I didn’t know about the Netflix film, which I will check out.
